I used to be cynical about black and white photography. Convinced that it was a lazy way of making a boring photo look more interesting than it really was. Needless to say, I have since re-evaluated my position, having learned that good black and white photography is more than just desaturating any old photo. When done correctly it can be a way to focus attention on shapes, light and the subject itself.
